MMMMMMMM……watermelon and mint!

At work the other day, someone was debating the definition of the term “cooking”. I guess, this isn’t ‘technically’ cooking — it’s more ‘preparing’, but either way, it’s refreshing on a hot summer day and stores well in a fridge for quick snacks.

Take a watermelon and start balling.

Add some berries to a bowl — blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, and strawberries (though, I prefer cutting those first), but YOU DO YOU, BOO!

Chop up some mint — these leaves are from my herb garden — aren’t you so impressed and proud of me!?!??!?! I kept something other than you three alive!!!! Miracles happen every day!

Crack some salt over the bowl of all the berries and watermelon and mint, and then put that combination into the fridge. Seems silly to call it a recipe, but whatever — it’s pretty, and fun, and tasty, and worthy of the space it takes to store when the world outside is hot enough to fry a bug’s ass on your carburetor — or however the saying goes.

Enjoy it with a gin and ginger ale cocktail. LOVE YOU ALL!!! Cheers, Yo Momma

Welcome to the Wild Firebrand Life

A mother’s love. This blog is for my family who wanted me to capture the recipes of their childhood so that they could share the love with their friends and families. May this blog be our family’s grimoire.

Blessed Be.
